I always say that I am single because: people are confusing as fcuk, I'm never good enough and/or the person I like never likes me back. Sometimes I even say that seeing people in love makes me believe in love more. Who am I fooling here anyway? Ha-ha.
But for me single is not a status, it is a word that describes one person strong enough to admit and enjoy life alone. All you have to do is be content on what you have. Who needs a boyfriend/partner when you have friends or family to be with? You don't need to be in a relationship to be complete. We (singles) are complete because of who we are and not because of who are we with.
There are some Pro's and Con's of being a single. Let's discuss it one by one. (Some are from Boys Night Out Twitter).
PRO'S:
- Pag may nag-aya ng gimik, game ka agad (@sam_yg).
- You can change plans. Like last minutes hanging out with friends or party.
- You can stay out late night without thinking that you're boyfriend/girlfriend will get mad at you. You don't owe anyone an explantion anyway.
- Ang lakas mo manlibre sa tropa mo! (@renyboy08). Cash isn't a problem to you. I mean you have a lot of saving kasi less date and gift giving. Kanino mo na lang gagastusin yan? Edi sa friends mo.
- You have unlimited alone time. You can spend 5 hours at gym, enjoy yourself shopping, everyday-pamper-day and a lot more time for yourself.
- Unlimited MOMOL. It's landi all you want, baby! You can like make out as many as you want kasi wala kang iisiping magagalit pag nalaman yun.
- You are stress free baby. You don't have to have a lovers quarrel over petty things.
- No responsibility and obligation. You don't have to remind someone to take their breakfast, lunch and dinner all day or remind them to take meds when they're sick, you don't have to do typical girlfriend duties or shop for someone else.
- You don't plan out your day, you just enjoy it (@_slickrick). Happy-go-lucky ang peg!
- And lastly, Less drama, less heartbreak and more happiness. Cheers! :)
While enjoying the perks of being a single, I can think of many disadvantage of being a single. Can I say it as a disadvantage?
CON'S:
- No one will text you the whole day. Papatulan mo na pati pagrerep;y sa mga scam messages, pag check ng balance on 222 or 8888 para masabing may katext ka.
- You're always the THIRD WHEEL. You even call your friend's boyfriend/girlfriend as "baby", "love", "sweetie".
- Malungkot ka pag rainy season. You tend to reminisce moments you had with you're ex-girlfriend/boyfriend. You also enjoy love song while reminiscing.
- No one will give you flowers on Valentines or give gifts on your birthday. Wala na ngang flowers or gifts, wala pang special someone to spend special occasion with.
- You can't hangout with you're friend because most of them are taken.. Sad no?
- You have to make parinig over facebook or twitter that you wanted to see this movie (Suddenly, It's Magic, Breaking Dawn, The Vow, etc) because no one wants to go with you.
- Walang ka'holding hands sa Bora, Mall or Park. Wala ding kayakap pag malamig.
- TIGANG!
- Imbes na si boylaloo or girlaloo magtext ng "uwi ka ng maaga.", "Ingat ka" and "Huwag ka magpapagabi", si Mother or Father na lang.
- Even though you had a great hangout with friends, at the end of the day, you'll realize that you're alone.
We don't have to rush things up. To us (singles), maybe God is really busy writing our own love story that will turn people head over heels. It's just a matter of being thankful and content for you to enjoy and not think of having someone special. You don't have to complete 9 simbang gabi days to wish na magka'love life ka na because even you don't miss any wishing on 11:11, wish bones, throwing coins on fountains or whatsoever, if you are still not meant to have someone in your life, hindi mangyayari yun.
Sometimes, its okay to be single and just go and hangout with friends. Yet, it sometimes stinks when you have no one to talk to at night, hold hands and be happy. You just have to have patience and wait to see what happens because someone out there is deserving and worthy of your love. :)
